Snacks\, baseballs\, and cards are available for purchase. Come and see for yourself how “America’s favorite pastime” was played in the 1860s. The teams competing are based on actual nineteenth-century baseball clubs from New England. \nThe Essex Base Ball Organization is a nonprofit “vintage base ball” group that plays the game as it was played in the 1860s. They are based out of Newbury\, Massachusetts\, and have four teams. They teach the history of baseball through games and demonstrations\, offering youth clinics and lectures on baseball history at historical societies\, libraries\, and other civic organizations. \nSee HNE website for first pitch times; triple headers start at 11 AM\, doubles at noon.

DESCRIPTION:Boston based trombonist Brian Thomas has been a crusader for funk\, jazz\, soul & reggae music in New England and beyond for over 20 years. His vibrant stage presence and distinctive funky style are on full display whenever he is on the stage. Whether he is co-leading big band funk powerhouse BT ALC Big Band \, with nu-jazz sextet Duo chrome\, or directing the rotating cast\nmusicians that are the BT Allstars\, Brian strives to achieve his goal to deliver positive music for your mind and body that keeps your head bobbing and your soul full. Brian has consistently focused on creating and recording original music. He dropped his newest release in May of 2024 “Live At The Fallout Shelter Set 1” with “Live At The Fallout Shelter Set 2” slated to be released July 5th\, 2024. Both of these albums were recorded live on 12/30/23 in Norwood\, MA and are an authentic presentation of what Brian does live on a nightly basis. These albums are follow ups to his debut solo album “On The Bone” released in 2023 to rave reviews. He also recently collaborated with longtime friend Jared Sims to release the Duo chrome album “Sky View” . In addition to these recording projects\, Brian and Alex Lee-Clark have released five albums with the mighty BT ALC Big Band\, including the most recent one” Hearing The Truth” released in April of 2023. Much of Brian’s early creative output can be found on the four albums released by Akashic Record. Passionate about writing\, horn arranging and recording\, Brian can be found in the studio collaborating with musicians all over the world and most recently has contributed to projects by many of the bands under the Vintage League Music record label led by Alan Evans. \nJorgan Trio+1 brings a powerhouse blend of funky soul organ jazz\, deep grooves\, fiery improvisation\, and infectious energy. Featuring the soulful saxophone work of Henley Douglas Jr.\, the rich organ and keys of Jordan Gravel\, the driving rhythms of Andrew Jones on drums\, and the dynamic guitar work of Christopher Brown\, the quartet delivers a fresh\, electrifying take on the classic organ jazz sound. \nAcclaimed trumpeter Garret Savluk joins the band for this special performance. Firicano in 2010 under the name MSF BAND\, the group has maintained a rigorous touring schedule\, performing nearly every weekend across New England. In early 2026\, the band underwent a rebranding\, adopting the name The Radio to enhance its commercial appeal. Although it had a strong following prior to this change\, The Radio has experienced a notable surge in popularity since then.

DESCRIPTION:In honor of the nation’s 250th birthday\, the American Political Items Collectors (APIC) will host a celebration of the history of U.S. political campaigns at its national convention in Danvers\, Mass.\, from July 30 through August 1. \nThe highlight will be more than 200 tables full of political pinback buttons\, ribbons\, posters\, paper and much more for the public to view or purchase. Dealers will be attending from most of the 50 states offering original items for sale from the inauguration of George Washington to the campaigns of Abraham Lincoln\, Teddy & Franklin Roosevelt\, John F. Kennedy and many other candidates. \nThe event will be held at the DoubleTree Boston North Shore hotel in Danvers from Thursday\, July 30 through Saturday\, Aug. 1. Hours will be 10am – 5pm on Thursday; 9am to 5pm on Friday; and 9am to 4pm on Saturday. Admission to the public is $15; seniors and students are $10; free admission for kids 12 and under\, and every child who attends will receive a free bag of political pinback buttons. Attendees also are encouraged to bring political campaign items for a free appraisal\, and items may be auctioned for a 15% commission\, which is donated to the APIC.
