SUMMARY:Trash Transformed: A Binational Perspective on Art and Sustainability

The gallery is open from 10 am to 4 pm\, Monday through Friday. \nAdditional exhibition events on April 10 include an Artist Talk from 12:30-1:30 pm\, followed by an Artist Reception.

SUMMARY:Bonsai Workshop at Deacon Giles Distillery
DESCRIPTION:Beginner workshops are perfect for you to grab your friends\, grab a drink and come make tiny trees! We’re bringing the awesome art of bonsai out of the hedged in gardens and into the streets! Or at least into your favorite bars/breweries/pubs. Bonsai Bar is a night of fun you don’t want to miss. Learn the fundamental skills and techniques behind the art of bonsai while enjoying a night out with friends! Our teachers will introduce core concepts and guide your experience as you pot\, prune\, and design your very own bonsai tree! Our Guarantee: These tiny trees are so hardy we guarantee you can keep yours alive\, or we’ll replace it. \nThis workshop will be hosted at Deacon Giles Distillery. We were inspired to revive the art of distilling in a town once rich in both trade and spirits\, but sadly devoid of distilleries for the last 100 years. We set out to roll up our sleeves and craft something exceptional using our own hands\, uniquely infused with our personalities and steeped in history. \nUnder 21 policy: Please contact Deacon Giles Distillery for details regarding underage entry \nFor more about Bonsai Bar and what to expect at our classes\, visit our website at: https://bonsaibar.com/products/deacon-giles-distillery

SUMMARY:Trash Transformed: A Binational Perspective on Art and Sustainability
DESCRIPTION:The “Trash to Art” initiative\, a Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) project between Salem State University in the United States and Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico\, exemplifies the transformative power of global shared learning. By aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals #12 (Sustainable Consumption and Production) and #13 (Climate Action)\, “Trash to Art” challenges participants to critically examine their consumption patterns and the environmental impact of human activities. \nThis exhibition takes place in Salem State’s Winfisky Gallery\, located in the Ellison Campus Center\, 1 Meier Drive. The gallery is open from 10 am to 4 pm\, Monday through Friday. \nAdditional exhibition events on April 10 include an Artist Talk from 12:30-1:30 pm\, followed by an Artist Reception.

SUMMARY:Kids at The Cabot: Debbie and Friends
DESCRIPTION:From the moment the Debbie and Friends band launches into their first song\, “I’m Glad You’re Here\,” the children in the crowd understand their role: to participate\, sing\, dance\, jump and interact with the Debbie and Friends band. As the lyrics suggest\, “you’re part of the show.” From that high-energy opener to the ecstatic ending\, the pacing of a Debbie and Friends show perfectly aligns with the attention spans of their young audience. They’ll rock out and get the kids dancing in a theatre-sized conga line\, and then they’ll bring them down gently to relax and engage in more attentive ways. Drawing heavily from fairytales that kids will already be familiar with\, Debbie and Friends presents enough lyrical updates to keep these stories fresh\, and to keep everybody tuned in and laughing\, including the parents! Debbie and Friends has been honored with 25 national awards including the 2011 Grammy Award for their part on the Best Children’s Album that year with their anti-bullying song\, “Walk Away.” \nPerfect for families with kids ages 2-8.
