SUMMARY:About Explore! North Shore – Long Hill Hike
DESCRIPTION:The Explore! North Shore hiking series will get you outside and moving at some lesser explored Trustees properties across the Northeast Region\, at the right time of year to see these special places shine. DESCRIPTION:It’s Base Ball\, 1864 style at Spencer Peirce Little Farm! These fun\, historically accurate games feature underhand pitching and no gloves are allowed. A ball bounced once and caught is an out! Snacks\, baseballs\, and cards are available for purchase. Come and see for yourself how this game was played in the 1860’s. The teams playing represent actual teams that played in New England during the 19th Century! \nGrass field seating: bring blankets and lawn chairs\nNo reserved seating\nWeather permitting\nThe Essex Base Ball Organization\, a non-profit “vintage” baseball group that plays baseball as it was played in the 19th century. We are based out of Newbury\, MA and have four teams in our organization the Essex Base Ball Club\, Lynn Live Oaks\, Lowell Base Ball Club\, and Newburyport Clamdiggers. One of our goals is to teach the history of baseball through games and demonstrations. In addition to playing a full schedule of games every summer\, we run youth clinics in which we teach children the evolution of the game through hands on activities; we also give lectures on baseball history at historical societies\, libraries\, and other civic organizations.

SUMMARY:Navigating Art & Science | Exhibit at The Cultural Center at Rocky Neck

SUMMARY:Benedict Arnold in Danvers
DESCRIPTION:Arnold was still on the Patriots’ side of the Revolution\, he and his troops camped in Danvers? \nOne of the most strategic and daring exploits of the patriot cause during the revolution. Part of the troops encamped in the Town of Danvers on the night of September 14\, 1775 on their way to Newburyport where they embarked for the Kennebec and their famous march through the pathless wilds of Maine successfully accomplished in spite of formidable obstacles and excessive privations. Native Americans\, specifically the Abenaki\, played a role as scouts and guides\, and there was also hope for broader support from the Canadian Indigenous populations. \nIn September 1775\, early in the American Revolutionary War\, Colonel Benedict Arnold led a force of 1\,100 Continental Army troops on an expedition from Cambridge in the Province of Massachusetts Bay to the gates of Quebec City.

SUMMARY:Where the Sea Meets the Land
DESCRIPTION:The essence of the Atlantic Ocean takes center stage for the Rockport Celtic Festival’s finale\, complete with never-before-heard artist collaboration\, narration by Ben Shattuck and some very special guests. \nIt has become a tradition that on the final day of the festival we acknowledge our home in Cape Ann and the rich nautical history of this stunning part of New England. We will welcome back the inimitable David Coffin along with the small pipes\, nyckelharpa and accordion of the Triton Trio (Jeremiah McLane\, Timothy Cummings and Alex Kehler) with a special cameo of fiddler extraordinaire Jenna Moynihan. \nIn addition\, this year\, we are thrilled to be presenting a brand-new collaboration between our artist-in-residence Liz Knowles and critically acclaimed author Ben Shattuck’s newest collection of stories ‘The History of Sound’. This new piece of music\, commissioned in memory of Brian O’Donovan\, blends the spectacular depths of Liz’s fiddle with Kyle Sanna’s electronics\, Maeve Gilchrist on harp and cellist Mike Block. Commissioned as part of the new Brian O Donovan commission series\, Liz has created a stunning piece of music that explores the ‘in-between’ places of creativity is so beautifully outlined in Ben’s writing. With narration by Ben Shattuck you can expect words that evoke the Salty Atlantic Ocean and notes that cut to the depth of your soul.

SUMMARY:Bonsai Workshop at Old Planters Brewery
DESCRIPTION:Beginner workshops are perfect for you to grab your friends\, grab a drink and come make tiny trees! We’re bringing the awesome art of bonsai out of the hedged in gardens and into the streets! Or at least into your favorite bars/breweries/pubs. Bonsai Bar is a night of fun you don’t want to miss. Learn the fundamental skills and techniques behind the art of bonsai while enjoying a night out with friends! Our teachers will introduce core concepts and guide your experience as you pot\, prune\, and design your very own bonsai tree! Our Guarantee: These tiny trees are so hardy we guarantee you can keep yours alive\, or we’ll replace it. \nThis workshop will be hosted at Old Planters Brewery. Our goal has always been to be firmly rooted in our community with everything we do. Whether it’s collaborating with other local businesses in our area (FRANK / Crave / Wandering Soul/ Fat Tuna Charters/ Half Baked) or giving back to the place that has given us so much (Beverly Hospital/HarborLight community partners) . \nThis idea of community rings true in our taproom as well. Our space has become a meeting place to hear local musicians\, enjoy local artists\, and get a taste of various foods in the Beverly area . It’s also a space where we would like ALL members of our community to feel welcome and accepted. For many\, craft breweries can sometimes feel exclusive and intimidating for those that don’t consider themselves “beer nerds” and this is a notion we will always work hard to dispel. We believe beer should be fun/accepting and our goal is to always have a variety of beers that speak to a wide audience. \nUnder 21 policy: Please contact Old Planters Brewery for details regarding underage entry \nFor more about Bonsai Bar and what to expect at our classes\, visit our website at: https://bonsaibar.com/products/old-planters-brewery
