SUMMARY:Toronzo Cannon
DESCRIPTION:Reserved Seating $34.50 + $6.95 service fee\nG.A. Standing $19.50 + $6.95 service fee\n6:00pm Doors / 7:00pm Show\n18+ / Positive I.D. Required \n“I want my songs to be heard and experienced\, not just listened to\,” says cliché-defying\, internationally beloved Chicago bluesman Toronzo Cannon. With his richly detailed\, truth-telling original songs\, blistering\, inventive guitar work and impassioned vocals\, Cannon is on the cutting edge of today’s contemporary blues scene\, and is known as one of the genre’s most creative artists. His sound is inspired by his heroes\, including Hound Dog Taylor\, Muddy Waters\, Elmore James\, Albert King\, Son Seals and Jimi Hendrix. On his third Alligator Records album\, Shut Up And Play!\, Cannon blazes his own path with 11 emotionally-charged originals. From serious to humorous\, his imaginative songs are fueled by his powerful\, cathartic guitar solos and his soulfully authoritative voice. \n“I write what I know\, what I feel\,” Cannon says\, “I like to put myself in the shoes of the subjects of my songs. This record is about the things going on in my life since 2019—it’s a document of what I’ve seen and been through\, but the stories are universal. And it’s my way to get past negative things and keep my own sanity. Listen to the lyrics. I am a Black man in America. These are NOT protest songs. I try to create honest\, common sense understanding with my songs.”

DESCRIPTION:1776 was more than a turning point; it marked the birth of a new world order. A bold line was drawn as ordinary people made extraordinary decisions\, declaring independence from the most powerful empire on earth. Driven by youthful fire\, they believed in the promise of liberty more than they feared the cost of pursuing it.\nHistoric Beverly proudly presents The American Revolution: A story of the War in 28 Paintings\, a once-in-a-lifetime exhibition of artworks commissioned to illustrate Senator Henry Cabot Lodge Sr.’s landmark book.\nThese paintings are featured in Ken Burns’ upcoming documentary The American Revolution. The exhibit will be on display at the Cabot House from September 6\, 2025 to July 4\, 2026. Tickets are free and open to the public

SUMMARY:Danielle Miraglia
DESCRIPTION:Danielle Miraglia comes armed with a strong steady thumb on an old Gibson and an infectious stomp-box rhythm with tunes ranging from heart-felt to socially conscious that will move both your heart and hips. Her latest “Bright Shining Stars” debuted at #15 on the Billboard Blues Charts. \nCascade Blues Association calls it “… tough as rawhide\, but smooth as blended whiskey.” Released Oct 2020 with Vizztone Label Group\, it’s a solo acoustic folk/blues record that highlights the one-woman-band live sound she’s honed over the years\, featuring guest appearances by talented friends Laurence Scudder\, Peter Parcek and Richard “”Rosy”” Rosenblatt. It includes originals as well as a collection of songs she covers at live shows\, paying homage to influences like Big Bill Broonzy\, Bob Dylan\, Janis Joplin and more\, plus the title track “Bright Shining Stars\,” written by her husband\, Tom Bianchi. \n“Americana and blues practitioner Danielle Miraglia wisely avoids fuss and clutter on her latest album\, Bright Shining Stars. Fingerpicking and strumming on acoustic guitar are central to her sound\, with percussion frequently provided by the infectious stomp of her foot. Three of the 11 tracks here are solo recordings\, reinforcing a truism that the artist frequently has proven on Boston-area stages: A charming voice and fluid guitar prowess are all an artist needs to keep a listener rapt.” – Bobby Reed\, Downbeat Magazine \n“Straddling the line where folk/roots meets rock/blues\, Miraglia has a voice that can go from a raspy come-hither purr to an Etta James-esque powerhouse belt\, although she may be best known for her lead thumb — a heavy\, thumping strike on her Gibson that’s backdrop percussion in itself.” – Lauren Daley\, The Boston Globe

SUMMARY:Sinister Streets: Witch Trials\, Murders & Literary Legends
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a behind-the-scenes tour featuring architectural treasures from PEM’s collection! The only walking tours in Salem that offer entry into historic buildings\, PEM’s tours cover five centuries of happenings and characters from Witch City\, including the infamous trials of 1692. \nSinister Streets: Witch Trials\, Murders and Literary Legends starts by painting the picture of life in 1692 by examining the Gardner-Pingree House. The killing of Joseph White gripped Salem and the country in 1830 with its brawling brothers\, custom-built murder weapons\, conspiring family members and a body that was autopsied three times. Follow PEM’s expert guides into the room where it happened – if you dare! \nThis is an indoor/outdoor tour. Please dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes. We’ll see you rain or shine! \nThis tour involves walking around 0.5 miles\, standing on hard surfaces and the use of stairs. Historic structures are not ADA accessible. Strollers may be used on the tours\, but may not be brought into any of the historic structures. Historic houses may include areas of low lighting and uneven surfaces. Assisted listening devices are available\, and tour guides will use microphones. \nYou can also follow our expert guides on Brick by Brick: Salem’s Hidden Architectural Stories for an in-depth look at architecture across downtown Salem\, from a millionaire’s mansion to a working-class sailor’s house.

SUMMARY:Haunted Histories: Condemned
DESCRIPTION:The courtyard is haunted… again. \nYou came to Salem to enjoy the Halloween season\, but have you enjoyed yourself a little too much? Enter a prison existing in liminal space\, holding murderers\, cult leaders and madmen. Tonight you will find yourself “locked” in the courtyard until sunrise\, unless you can assist the Warden to find a crucial piece of evidence to tie a murderer to the most dastardly of crimes\, which took place steps away from where you stand… \nHouses featured in this program include the Gardner-Pingree House (1806)\, John Ward House (1684)\, Quaker Meeting House (about 1688) and Derby–Beebe Summer House (1799). \nPlaywright and Co-Director: Arielle Kaplan\nShowrunner / The Warden: Cari Keebaugh \nThis performance includes sudden flashes\, loud noises and fire effects. \nThese historic properties are not wheelchair accessible and will require visitors to ascend several steps to enter. Once inside\, floors may be uneven and the space will be tight. Guests will need to stand while in some houses. \nThis program includes low lighting in the houses and courtyard. Actors will not be using microphones. \nNo restrooms are available on PEM property. \nThe storytelling experience lasts about 70 minutes. Please note\, these stories are intended for mature audiences and contain themes (murder\, violence and gore\, suicide\, cult activity) that some may find disturbing. Discretion is advised. \nGuests must arrive 15 minutes prior to their ticketed time. \nTickets are single-entry; guests are not permitted to leave and return except to seek out restroom facilities. Rain or shine\, we’ll see you there! \nLearn more about all our events happening this fall at pem.org/halloween.
