SUMMARY:The Resurrection of Judy Rhines: An Installation by Gabrielle Barzaghi & Peter Littlefield
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, August 24\, 2025\n11:00 a.m.—5:00 p.m.\nWhite-Ellery House\, CAM Green\n13 Poplar Street\, Gloucester\, MA\nFree and open to the public.\nParking is first come first served. \nVisit the White-Ellery House to experience The Resurrection of Judy Rhines\, a site-specific drawing installation by Gabrielle Barzaghi (drawings) and Peter Littlefield (dramaturgy). It is comprised of a series of cardboard dioramas and texts that recount a fictional story about Judy Rhines who\, in 1796\, suddenly disappears after being accused of witchcraft. Some say she died by throwing herself off a Rowan tree. But there have been rumors of sightings of her in the Dogtown Woods. \nA radio play\, The Beginning of the End (of Judy Rhines) by Peter Littlefield\, accompanies the installation. The play is a mystery set in the 1940s. Judy Rhines is a secretary\, until one day\, losing her job and just about everything else\, she learns the ways of a witch. Cast includes Phoebe Potts\, Sarah Hickler\, Michael McNamara\, and Evan Lurie. Recorded and edited by Michael LaMarche. Music by Evan Lurie. \nKathleen Adams will perform her original song\, “Judy’s Lament\,” with words by Peter Littlefield\, at 2pm on Saturdays\, August 23 and 30. \nArtist Bios:\nGabrielle Barzaghi is a visual artist whose work explores the absurdity\, tragedy\, and beauty of the world. Her imagery is evocative of places just beyond the edge of normal experience and has an often otherworldly sensibility about the nature of time and being. Her work is in public and private collections\, including the Cape Ann Museum. She graduated from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts\, and taught drawing at Suffolk University for over 30 years. Barzaghi is represented by Matthew Swift Gallery. Recently her work was shown in the exhibition Lines of Thought / Contemporary Women Artists Draw at Jane Deering Gallery. Curator Judith Tolnick Champa included Barzaghi’s work in the exhibition Reseeding the City / Ethnobotany in the Urban at the Rhode Island State House. Barzaghi’s recent solo show Fear Game was exhibited at the Matthew Swift Gallery. She also made a gigantic drawn backdrop for Peter Littlefield’s staging of the play Dogtown Common. \nPeter Littlefield is a stage director\, playwright\, and dramaturg. He recently staged Percy MacKaye’s Dogtown Common at Windhover\, co-produced by the Gloucester 400+. The backdrop was created by Gabrielle Barzaghi. He adapted and co-staged James M. Barrie’s Peter Pan for the Fisher Center at Bard with director Christopher Alden and stage designer Marsha Ginsberg. He co-directed Handel’s Partenope with Mr. Alden at the English National Opera\, winning the Laurence Olivier Award. His work has appeared at the New York City Opera\, Glimmerglass Opera\, Spoleto Festival\, San Francisco Opera\, Theater Basil\, Prague National Theater\, and other companies in the United States and Europe. He began his career in New York’s downtown. He helped start The Pyramid Club where he staged many original shows. His trilogy of short films\, What She Learned from Plants\, made with Roy Rallo\, screened at the Gloucester Writers Center. He leads a playwrighting workshop there each summer. He studied with Maria Irene Fornes. \nImage Credit: Excerpt from The Resurrection of Judy Rhines\, 2025. Gabrielle Barzaghi\, ink on cardboard. Image courtesy of the artist.

DESCRIPTION:8/23/25\nReserved Seating $35\nGA Standing $17.50\n7:00pm Doors\, 8:00pm Show\n21+\, Positive I.D. Required \nComedian Tom Cotter has taken the comedy scene by storm since finishing as runner-up and becoming the Breakout Star from Season 7’s “America’s Got Talent.” He lost to a dog act\, but don’t hold that against him; Tom was the first comedian ever to be a finalist on the show and was the highest finishing human being on the show that year. \nIn August 2013\, AGT asked Tom back to perform as a special guest star (along with Train) and then again to host “The Season 8 AGT Snapple Viewing Party.” \nIn January 2019 Tom was again invited back to the AGT stage – this time to perform against the best of the best “Got Talent” performers from other years and around the world in “America’s Got Talent: The Champions.” In one the most talked about sets of the entire competition\, Tom received a STANDING OVATION from the adoring crowd. \nTom’s other numerous television and radio credits include “The Tonight Show\,” “Last Comic Standing\,” his very own “Comedy Central Presents… Tom Cotter\,”The Howard Stern Show\, Comics Unleashed\, multiple appearance on CBS’ “The Late Late Show” and Celebrity Host of “Gotham Comedy Live” on AXS-TV. \nYou can find Tom headlining all of America’s most famous comedy clubs including: The Comedy Cellar\, The Improv and Caroline’s On Broadway just to name a few. Tom has also been featured at the Montreal “Just For Laughs” Festival\, the HBO Comedy Arts Festival and headlining “America’s Got Talent Live” show at the Palazzo\, Las Vegas. And recently\, Tom was on the dais and took part in the Friars Club Roast of Boomer Esiason at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City. Tom is also a regular on Fox News Channel and co-starred on an episode of CBS’ “The Good Wife.” \nIn addition\, Tom has performed in a wide variety of venues from Alaska to China. His appeal is truly international as he was summoned to London to tour and perform on British Television\, and won The Seattle International Stand-Up Comedy Competition and Boston Comedy Festival as The Boston Herald noted “winning by the largest margin of victory in the history of the event.”

SUMMARY:Hot Sardines
DESCRIPTION:Since their early days performing for Brooklyn’s wild underground parties\, the Hot Sardines have skyrocketed to fame with their infectious brand of reinvigorated classic jazz. Described by The New York Times as “potent and assured” and The Times of London as “simply phenomenal\,” the group has earned them more than 60 million digital streams across platforms. \nThe Hot Sardines released C’est La Vie\, a bilingual affair of vintage jazz standards and originals written by Bougerol and Palazzo\, in August 2023. The title song\, a Bossa nova original in French\, is a timely ode to fully living each moment\, even when you don’t know what the next will bring. Unable to travel home in past years\, Elizabeth spent time rediscovering and recording early French music\, including the 1938 gypsy-jazz breezer “J’attendrai” (Dino Olivieri\, Louis Poterat)\, the dark Django Reinhardt ballad “Si Tu Savais” (Georges Ulmer)\, and “I Wish You Love\,” the 1942 standard by Charles Trenet and Léo Chauliac\, with English lyrics by Albert Beach. \n“We called our last album Welcome Home\, Bon Voyage because we were literally always getting on a plane. We were so lucky to have that success\, and we were finally able to reflect on it\,” says Elizabeth. Adds Evan\, “So we said\, What do we want to do now? It turned out we really wanted to write and record more music.” The pair focused on a stripped-down sound to record remotely\, calling on collaborators from Los Angeles to Beijing\, using very 21st-century technology to record songs written nearly 100 years ago.

SUMMARY:The Resurrection of Judy Rhines: An Installation by Gabrielle Barzaghi & Peter Littlefield
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, August 23\, 2025\n11:00 a.m.—5:00 p.m.\nWhite-Ellery House\, CAM Green\n13 Poplar Street\, Gloucester\, MA\nFree and open to the public.\nParking is first come first served.

SUMMARY:Robert Ellis Orrall with Fun Bucket After Party
DESCRIPTION:8/22/25\nReserved Seating $30\nGA Standing $15.00\n6:30pm Doors\, 7:30pm Show\n21+\, Positive I.D. Required \nWhen RCA Records signed Robert Ellis Orrall in 1980 he had his dream band: Kook Lawry on guitar\, Don Walden on bass and David Stefanelli on the drums. 44 years later they are back on the road and in the studio. Part of a New Wave of Boston artists that included The Stompers\, Jon Butcher Axis\, Til Tuesday and The Neighborhoods\, REO rocked legendary venues like The Rat\, The Paradise and The Orpheum Theater. The band’s critically acclaimed albums\, “Fixation”\, “Contain Yourself”\, and “Special Pain” were recorded at Rockfield Studios in Wales with producer Roger Bechirian (Elvis Costello\, Squeeze)\, and supported with tours opening for U2\, The Kinks\, Psychedelic Furs and countless others. And their Top 40 smash hit with Carlene Carter “I Couldn’t Say No” still stands as an 80’s classic. When Robert moved to Nashville to write and produce (Taylor Swift\, Reba McEntire\, Lindsay Lohan)\, Kook\, Don and David lent their talents to artists like Peter Wolf (J. Geils)\, Barry Goudreau & Brad Delp (Boston)\, Carlene Carter\, Brian Maes\, Nick Lowe and many more. Robert Ellis Orrall has had over 350 songs (and five #1 songs) cut around the world and soundtracked in TV and movies llke “The Bourne Identity”\, “Hannah Montana” and “Freaky Friday”. He produced tracks for Love and Theft\, Cake Bake Betty and Taylor Swift’s 10X Platinum debut and followup EP. The band regrouped to reminisce\, tour and record “467 Surf And Gun Club”\, an album John Hiatt called “absolutely joyful”\, Michael McDonald called “relevant and timeless’\, and said American Songwriter “The melodies\, counter melodies\, and killer performances constitute a unique blend of ‘60s-pop-meets-modernindie songwriting.” The band is touring from now to forever\, playing songs from all of their albums and albums to come\, listed below. The old cliche “Let’s get the band back together” has come to life with these four best friends playing their best music.
