SUMMARY:Celtic Baroque
DESCRIPTION:Tonight\, we hear music from Ireland\, Quebec\, Germany and New England with an interweaving thread of Baroque Music and techniques. At a time when Telemann and Bach were composing fugues in continental Europe\, the Bardic harping tradition was alive and vibrant in Ireland resulting in a whole repertoire of Irish harp tunes that are now carried via pipes\, fiddles and a host of different instruments. We have the stunning sounds of Montreal-based violist Alexis Chartrand\, bringing his unique Gut-bow approach to traditional Quebec repertoire. In contrast\, the GRAMMY-nominated violinist Christina Day\, along with theorbist Michael Leopold\, performs one of Heinrich Biber’s Mystery Sonatas. Artistic Director Maeve Gilchrist will also bring in longtime collaborator Kyle Sanna and bassist Logan Coale to premier some new music for harp and electric guitar inspired by a Seamus Heaney translation of a middle English Poem on the mysticism of Hares! Don’t miss this richly imaginative evening of 17th century inspired exploration in a completely contemporary fashion!

SUMMARY:Billy Prine Presents the Songs & Stories of John Prine
DESCRIPTION:Billy Prine is a natural-born storyteller just like his late\, great brother John Prine was a natural-born songwriter. John was a great communicator of the human experience whittled down to the best words. His big\, little brother\, owner of a rich\, booming voice yet full of subtleness\, is one of the finest orators you’ll ever hear – also choosing just the right turn of phrase. \nDuring these concerts celebrating John’s life in song\, Billy will tell stories about or surrounding some of John’s most beloved songs before leading his band through his version of John’s timeless masterpieces. As an example\, fans will get to hear the first time John played his classic song “Paradise” for their father as the family sat around the kitchen table. \nSongs are stories\, novellas\, if you will\, and stories often become songs. It is only fitting that in the course of each show during this tour\, that Billy relates – as only he can – the stories that surround the songs of his dear brother John. \nWith special guest\, Scarlett Egan.

SUMMARY:Benedict Arnold in Danvers
DESCRIPTION:Arnold was still on the Patriots’ side of the Revolution\, he and his troops camped in Danvers? \nOne of the most strategic and daring exploits of the patriot cause during the revolution. Part of the troops encamped in the Town of Danvers on the night of September 14\, 1775 on their way to Newburyport where they embarked for the Kennebec and their famous march through the pathless wilds of Maine successfully accomplished in spite of formidable obstacles and excessive privations. Native Americans\, specifically the Abenaki\, played a role as scouts and guides\, and there was also hope for broader support from the Canadian Indigenous populations. \nIn September 1775\, early in the American Revolutionary War\, Colonel Benedict Arnold led a force of 1\,100 Continental Army troops on an expedition from Cambridge in the Province of Massachusetts Bay to the gates of Quebec City.

SUMMARY:Where the Sea Meets the Land
DESCRIPTION:The essence of the Atlantic Ocean takes center stage for the Rockport Celtic Festival’s finale\, complete with never-before-heard artist collaboration\, narration by Ben Shattuck and some very special guests. \nIt has become a tradition that on the final day of the festival we acknowledge our home in Cape Ann and the rich nautical history of this stunning part of New England. We will welcome back the inimitable David Coffin along with the small pipes\, nyckelharpa and accordion of the Triton Trio (Jeremiah McLane\, Timothy Cummings and Alex Kehler) with a special cameo of fiddler extraordinaire Jenna Moynihan. \nIn addition\, this year\, we are thrilled to be presenting a brand-new collaboration between our artist-in-residence Liz Knowles and critically acclaimed author Ben Shattuck’s newest collection of stories ‘The History of Sound’. This new piece of music\, commissioned in memory of Brian O’Donovan\, blends the spectacular depths of Liz’s fiddle with Kyle Sanna’s electronics\, Maeve Gilchrist on harp and cellist Mike Block. Commissioned as part of the new Brian O Donovan commission series\, Liz has created a stunning piece of music that explores the ‘in-between’ places of creativity is so beautifully outlined in Ben’s writing. With narration by Ben Shattuck you can expect words that evoke the Salty Atlantic Ocean and notes that cut to the depth of your soul.

DESCRIPTION:Beginner workshops are perfect for you to grab your friends\, grab a drink and come make tiny trees! We’re bringing the awesome art of bonsai out of the hedged in gardens and into the streets! Or at least into your favorite bars/breweries/pubs. Bonsai Bar is a night of fun you don’t want to miss. Our teachers will introduce core concepts and guide your experience as you pot\, prune\, and design your very own bonsai tree! Our Guarantee: These tiny trees are so hardy we guarantee you can keep yours alive\, or we’ll replace it. \nThis workshop will be hosted at Old Planters Brewery. Our goal has always been to be firmly rooted in our community with everything we do. Whether it’s collaborating with other local businesses in our area (FRANK / Crave / Wandering Soul/ Fat Tuna Charters/ Half Baked) or giving back to the place that has given us so much (Beverly Hospital/HarborLight community partners) . \nThis idea of community rings true in our taproom as well. Our space has become a meeting place to hear local musicians\, enjoy local artists\, and get a taste of various foods in the Beverly area . It’s also a space where we would like ALL members of our community to feel welcome and accepted. For many\, craft breweries can sometimes feel exclusive and intimidating for those that don’t consider themselves “beer nerds” and this is a notion we will always work hard to dispel. We believe beer should be fun/accepting and our goal is to always have a variety of beers that speak to a wide audience. \nUnder 21 policy: Please contact Old Planters Brewery for details regarding underage entry \nFor more about Bonsai Bar and what to expect at our classes\, visit our website at: https://bonsaibar.com/products/old-planters-brewery

DESCRIPTION:9/18/25\nReserved Seating $20-$25\nGA Standing $12.50\n7:00pm Doors\, 8:00pm Show\n21+\, Positive I.D. Required \nDueling Pianos is back. Bring your friends and have a Ball. Dueling Pianos is a massive “to the top of your lungs” sing along with all your friends! Two grand pianos are center-stage with a team of outrageously talented pianists that seem to know every song ever written. \nEach show is different because it’s all request. SUMMARY:Newburyport's Revolution: Through a Howling Wilderness: 1775 March to Quebec
DESCRIPTION:Newburyport’s Road to Revolution Presents: Through a Howling Wilderness: Benedict Arnold’s March to Quebec\, 1775 \n📅 Friday\, September 19\, 2025 – 7:00 p.m.📍 St. Paul’s Episcopal Church\, Newburyport\, MA \nExactly 250 years to the day after Benedict Arnold led his troops out of Newburyport\, join us for a captivating lecture by historian and author Tom Desjardin on one of the most extraordinary—yet often overlooked—episodes of the American Revolution. \nIn September 1775\, Arnold commanded eleven hundred Colonial soldiers on a daring\, top-secret mission: to march and paddle nearly 200 miles through the untamed wilderness of Maine and Quebec to seize British-held Quebec City. It was a journey marked by hypothermia\, disease\, starvation\, hurricanes\, and blizzards. Dozens perished; survivors endured eating everything from dogs to lip salve before reaching their target. Though the attack ultimately failed\, Arnold’s expedition helped pave the way for America’s eventual victory. \nIn Through a Howling Wilderness\, Desjardin tells this gripping story of endurance\, sacrifice\, and leadership before Arnold’s name became synonymous with treason. \nAbout the Speaker:Tom Desjardin holds a Ph.D. in U.S. History and is the author of multiple acclaimed books. A former archivist and historian at Gettysburg National Military Park\, he has taught at Bowdoin College\, advised film and television productions (including Gettysburg and Gods and Generals)\, and appeared on the History Channel\, A&E\, Discovery\, PBS\, and CSPAN. He is a former Commissioner of Education for Maine and director of the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands. \nFunded\, in part\, by the Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism
