SUMMARY:Newburyport Choral Society's Winter Concert Program "When Jazz Meets Choir"
DESCRIPTION:The winter concert celebrates the fusion of traditional choral writing\, rich jazz harmonies\, and improvisation. Composer Will Todd’s Mass in Blue will be performed with a jazz band featuring piano\, bass\, saxophone\, and drums\, and with internationally renowned operatic jazz soprano\nsoloist Katherine Whyte.\n\nThe program will also include the seasonal traditions for which NCS is known: the Youth Choir of Immaculate Conception Church\, NCS’s own small chamber ensemble\, a hushed song by candlelight\, and audience sing-alongs of familiar carols.
