DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the timeless art of flower pressing and explore the Stevens-Coolidge gardens in peak color and bloom season as part of Summer BloomFest. \nParticipants will begin with a brief guided garden tour through the historic gardens to highlight the best blooms for pressing and gain insight into the design and care behind our floral displays. After the guided tour\, participants will learn techniques for pressing flowers and create your own botanical keepsake-perfect for framing\, gifting\, or adding to your journal. \nExperience Includes:\n• A guided garden tour focused on cut flower and pressing varieties.\n• An introduction to flower pressing tools and techniques.\n• A hands-on workshop where participants will design and take home a pressed flower creation. \nNo prior flower pressing experience needed. All supplies and materials are provided. DESCRIPTION:Our friendly\, knowledgeable tour guides share fascinating stories in each of the museum’s period rooms and galleries. \nYou will walk through this Federal-period house\, from its 1808 beginning as a ship captain’s home to its ownership by multiple generations of the Cushing family. See parts of the home as it was lived in\, as well as galleries featuring maritime trade\, the churches of Old Newbury\, and art works by Newburyport native Laura Coombs Hills. \nTours are on the hour\, 11-4pm\, Thursday – Sunday. Pre-order of tickets is encouraged as space cannot be guaranteed without tickets. Please arrive 10 minutes before your tour starts. \nTours are $10\, $8 for seniors\, $5 for those under 18. Students will learn how to fold and bind pages together to make a blank book that can be used for sketching\, writing\, or collecting photographs. Students will be sent a list of tools to bring upon registration. A materials fee of $10 will be required at time of class. Create your own book and get inspired to fill it!
