Families will conduct measurements of water quality and weather\, census native vs. Non-native crabs\, collect and observe plankton using field microscopes\, and observe the ever-shifting tides. Join this program to discover a lesser-known area of the Crane Estate\, on the backside of Crane Beach along the picturesque Castle Neck River. \nThis program is part of the CoastalExplorers spring monthly series\, highlighting different habitats around our coast at The Crane Estate. Other programs in this series include Sand Dune Safari (Sunday\, 4/13) and Shoreline Shipwreck Scholars (Sunday 6/1). You can register for one\, or get a 15% discount if you register for all three. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a star party with the North Shore Astronomy Club. Club members will bring telescopes and expertise to help us explore and view the dark sky from the Crane Beach parking lot. Bring your binoculars\, scopes\, starfinding apps\, and curiosity. You may also want to bring: red light/head lamp\, bug spray\, water bottle\, chair or blanket to sit on. This event is all ages\, so bring the family! \nPlease arrive between 8-8:30pm – night sky viewing will begin at 8:30pm. \nHere are some of the exciting things we may be able to see through the telescopes: \n– Double star systems\n– Quadruple and larger star systems\n– Open clusters (collections of 100 to 1000 stars in our galaxy)\n– Globular clusters (collections of 100’s of thousands of stars that orbit our galaxy)\n– Nebula (exploded stars as well as star forming regions)\nLearn more about our co-hosts\, the North Shore Astronomy Club\, here: https://nsaac.org/ \nParking and meeting location for events will be emailed to registrants approximately 24 hours before the event start at the address provided upon registration.
