SUMMARY:Portrait of a Sculptor: Walker Hancock & Michael Lafferty
DESCRIPTION:Walker Hancock was one of the premier American sculptors of the 20th century and a highly engaged and respected member of the Cape Ann community. Michael Lafferty is a skilled photographer who spent hours photographing Hancock in his Lanesville studio\, creating a series of intimate portraits of the sculptor at work. DESCRIPTION:With Dr. Miriam Nichols\, Professor Emerita at the University of Fraser Valley\, in Abbotsford\, British Colombia. Held in collaboration with the Gloucester Writers’ Center. \nMiriam Nichols\, Professor Emerita at the University of Fraser Valley\, will give this year’s annual Charles Olson Lecture\, presented at the Gloucester Stage Company in partnership with the Gloucester Writers Center. Nichols will discuss Charles Olson’s early poems written during World War II and the ways he re-imagined the possibility of agency in the public sphere under seemingly impossible conditions.
