SUMMARY:Architectural Walking Tours: Newburyport’s Fashionable Old Houses
DESCRIPTION:Architectural styles\, like clothing\, come into fashion for functional\, aesthetic\, economic and social reasons. Over time homeowners renovate\, enhance\, and adapt to reflect changing times and fashions. \nJoin us for a walking tour of Newburyport’s architectural styles from the 18th and 19th centuries as found along High Street and the neighborhood near the Museum of Old Newbury. Learn to distinguish prevalent styles\, note changes that have occurred over time\, and determine what questions to ask about historic houses. \nThis approximately 90-minute walk allows ample time to walk and talk with your knowledgeable guide and other participants. Together we will walk through time using the lens of Newburyport’s fashionable old houses! \nWear comfortable shoes for uneven terrain and bring a water bottle. In case of extreme weather\, this event will be an illustrated talk at the Museum of Old Newbury.

SUMMARY:Explore! North Shore – Long Hill Hike
DESCRIPTION:The Explore! North Shore hiking series will get you outside and moving at some lesser explored Trustees properties across the Northeast Region\, at the right time of year to see these special places shine. These hikes will not be too strenuous\, and will offer frequent stops for learning and taking in the beauty of our special places. \nJoin us at Long Hill in Beverly for some nature\, nurture\, and learning! Immerse yourself in the wonders of nature while learning about the history and unique qualities of this beautiful property. Travel the woodland trails and stroll through the outdoor “garden rooms” that were cultivated and stewarded by the Sedgwick family until they generously donated the property to The Trustees in 1979. \nThis moderate hike will last ~2 hours and cover ~2 miles\, over wooded\, gravel\, & grass trails with moderate elevation change.\nBe sure to wear weather-appropriate clothing\, and boots or shoes that are appropriate for hiking in potentially wet and muddy spots\, or over uneven terrain. We recommend you bring your own water bottle\, snacks\, and anything else you need to be comfortable outdoors. \nAccessibility: This hike has an easy level of difficulty\, and requires hiking ~2 miles on unpaved and potentially muddy trails\, with moderate elevation gain for approximately 2 hours. \nAll children must be accompanied by an adult. This is appropriate for adventurous kids as young as 6 years old\, but is geared towards learners of all ages including adults. Adult discretion on your child’s ability to manage this activity is advised. \nCost: Member Adult: $15;Member Child: $12;\nNonmember Adult: $25;Nonmember Child: $20

SUMMARY:Patriots and Privateers of Revolutionary Middle Street
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, September 19\, 2025\n10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.\nCape Ann Museum Courtyard\, Downtown Campus\n27 Pleasant St\, Gloucester\, MA\, 01930\n$10 for CAM Members\, $20 for non-members\nRegistration Required \nAs a seaport town jutting into the Atlantic\, Gloucester was of strategic importance during the American Revolution and always under threat of attack. The people of the town stood ready to take action against the British\, and many of them did. In this walking tour down Middle Street — one of Gloucester’s oldest streets – we will step back in time to meet people who were witness to Revolution right from this spot; see where they lived and gathered\, in houses still standing today; and hear the stories of the roles they played in defending liberty\, as patriots\, privateers\, preachers and more. This tour was developed in conjunction with the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution. \nStroll with a CAM Docent for about 1 1/2 hours as you walk Middle Street in downtown Gloucester. \nWhere to Meet?\nThough the Downtown Campus is currently closed for renovations until the spring of 2026\, the tour will gather at the courtyard attached to the Museum on 27 Pleasant Street.
