SUMMARY:Coastal Lecture: Tidepools of Plum Island
DESCRIPTION:Take a virtual tour of Sandy Point State Reservation between the tides and into the tidal pools among the rocks to learn about the diverse species that reside in intertidal and subtidal zones. Join Lisa Hutchings of MassAudubon Joppa Flats who will share vibrant images and captivating\, informative video clips to help you learn about the local marine biodiversity\, native and non-native species\, and seasonal changes along the shore. After the ~30 minute presentation\, get hands-on with our tide pool touch tubs where you will get to observe\, handle and ask questions about a variety of LIVE tidepool creatures\, such as mollusks\, crustaceans\, echinoderms and more! \nAbout our speaker: Lisa Hutchings is the Lead Education Coordinator for MassAudubon at Joppa Flats. In this role\, she has been supervising and training field teachers\, interns\, and volunteers as young as 14 for the last 20 years with Mass Audubon’s North Shore. She teaches PreK through 12\, leads families on field trips\, hosts public events\, instructs adults in the field\, and presents at workshops\, conferences and symposiums. Lisa is passionate about marine biology\, enjoys birding\, biking and kayaking and loves taking people to share her newest obsession – mushroom hunting! Lisa lives with her husband\, Mark in Amesbury and has two sons\, Nate and Danny. DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, May 22\, 2025\n3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.\nJanet & William Ellery James Center\, CAM Green\n13 Poplar Street\, Gloucester\, MA 01930\nCAM Members Free\, Non-Members $10\nRegistration is required as space is limited. \nLed by organ builders John Schreiner and Steve Malionek\, learn about the art and science behind voicing an organ once it is installed at its final location. \nJohn Schreiner will be joining the talk in place of Nami Hamada. \nSteve Malionek has spent more than 30 years at C. B. Fisk experiencing most every aspect of organ building. Primarily a reed pipe voicer\, he has also been involved in woodworking\, pipe making\, drawing and design in AutoCAD\, CNC programming and operation\, organ maintenance\, among other tasks.
