SUMMARY:Angels in America\, Part One: Millennium Approaches
DESCRIPTION:Tony Kushner’s searing epic Angels in America\, Part One: Millennium Approaches is the first of two stories that focus on the HIV/AIDS epidemic in New York City during the 1980s. Set against the conservative Reagan era\, the play follows a remarkable ensemble of characters: Prior Walter\, a young man battling AIDS; his partner Louis Ironson\, struggling with guilt and fear; Joe Pitt\, a closeted Mormon Republican lawyer; his valium-addicted wife Harper; and the infamous Roy Cohn\, a real-life figure whose denial of both his sexuality and AIDS diagnosis forms one of the play’s most powerful storylines. \nWith equal measures of humor and heartbreak\, “Angels in America” addresses themes of identity\, faith\, politics\, and responsibility\, while asking profound questions about community\, healing\, and the nature of progress in America. \nDirected by Peter Sampieri \nMature subject matter. \nPERFORMANCES\nNovember 22 and 23\, 7:30pm\nNovember 24\, 2pm\nDecember 6 and 7\, 7:30pm\nDecember 8\, 2pm \nFriday\, December 6 is SALEM NIGHT. Free admission for all Salem residents. \nTICKETS\n$15 general/$10 seniors/free for all students with student ID and under 18.Admission is free for Salem State students\, faculty and staff with university ID \n*For mature audiences.
