DESCRIPTION:SECOND SHOW ADDED TO DUE TO DEMAND! \n*THIS PERFORMANCE IS A ONE-MAN STAGE PLAY* \nBronx-born and raised Chazz Palminteri wrote A Bronx Tale in 1988. The powerful one- man stage play depicted his bruising childhood which included witnessing a gangland killing when he was nine years old. Palminteri played 18 characters and brought them all to life in his autobiographical play. His friends\, enemies and family came alive on stage. Hollywood Studios went crazy after seeing it and offered him millions of dollars to turn it into a major movie. There was one catch… They wanted to put a star in the role of Sonny and someone else to write the screenplay. With $200 dollars in the bank…Palminteri said No… he would hold out and wait. He wanted to play Sonny and write the screenplay. Then one night Palminteri walked into his dressing room and sitting there was Robert De Niro who just saw the show. Robert DeNiro gave Palminteri the chance he was waiting for… And as they say in Hollywood the rest is history. Palminteri wrote the screenplay for the film A Bronx Tale and then most recently wrote the book for the Broadway Musical. It was the first time in history that the same actor wrote the one-man play\, the movie\, and the Broadway Musical and starred in each one. In the past 35 years\, Chazz has appeared in over 60 films. To name a few – The Usual Suspects\, Analyze This\, Mulholland Falls\, Jade\, Guide to Recognizing Your Saints\, Legend\, and Bullets over Broadway\, which he was nominated for an Academy Award. He has starred in over 20 television series and has won 3 Emmy’s. Chazz is most recently seen in Modern Family\, Godfather of Harlem\, Law & Order and Gravesend.

Pulitzer-Prize winner Caroline Shaw’s landmark string quartet Entr’acte\, the centerpiece of The Westerlies’ 2023 release\, is presented alongside the title track from their 2020 release Wherein Lies the Good by Robin Holcomb. The program continues with folk songs adapted from Sam Amidon and Nico Muhly\, whose genre-expanding work has inspired The Westerlies since the ensemble’s formation at The Juilliard School over a decade ago. The Westerlies present this body of music with their signature precision and virtuosity\, and in the process\, craft a sound that is warm and tactile\, engaging and expressive\, at once familiar and completely their own. \nTHE WESTERLIES\nThe Westerlies\, “an arty quartet…mixing ideas from jazz\, new classical\, and Appalachian folk” (New York Times) are a New York-based brass quartet comprised of Riley Mulherkar and Chloe Rowlands on trumpet\, and Andy Clausen and Addison Maye-Saxon on trombone. From Carnegie Hall to Coachella\, The Westerlies navigate a wide array of venues and projects with the precision of a string quartet\, the audacity of a rock band\, and the charm of a family sing-along. \n“Chamber music with bracing melodies and\, crucially\, an undeniable sense of fun.” LA Times\nFormed in 2011\, the self-described “accidental brass quartet” takes its name from the prevailing winds that travel from the West to the East. The Westerlies explore jazz\, roots\, and chamber music influences to create the rarest of hybrids: music that is both “folk-like and composerly\, lovely and intellectually rigorous” (NPR Music). \nThe ensemble has produced numerous critically acclaimed albums of genre-defying music. 2022 saw the release of the Songbook Vol. 2 and Live at TOURISTS on Westerlies Records\, the ensemble’s in-house record label. The previous year was a prolific year for the ensemble\, with the release of Fireside Brass: A Westerlies Holiday (Westerlies Records)\, Songbook Vol. 1 (Westerlies Records)\, and Bricolage (Westerlies Records)\, a collaborative album of improvisations with pianist/composer Conrad Tao. 2021 also saw the release of This Land\, the ensemble’s collaboration with GRAMMY-nominated vocalist Theo Bleckmann. She has been featured as a soloist with more than fifty prestigious ensembles\, including the New York Philharmonic\, Cleveland Symphony Orchestra\, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and Shanghai Symphony Orchestra. She has performed in leading venues\, including Berliner Philharmonie\, Carnegie Hall\, Lincoln Center\, the Kennedy Center and the Taiwan National Concert Hall\, among many others. She has appeared as a guest artist at many music festivals\, including the Marlboro\, Ravinia\, Aspen\, and Newport Music Festivals. \nMotivated by a deep wish to inspire peace and harmony with her music\, Sirena has performed before world leaders\, thinkers and humanitarians. She performed at the Petra Conference for Nobel Laureates in 2006 and at the Opening Ceremony of the “Forum 2000 World Conference” in Prague\, among others. \nIn addition to her TED Talk in 2006\, Sirena has been featured on numerous radio and television broadcasts\, including WQXR’s McGraw-Hill Young Artists Showcase\, and NPR’s “From the Top” as well as several interviews with WNPR\, CNBC\, WTNH\, WTIC\, WB20 and Beethoven Radio. \nDREW PETERSEN\, piano\nAcclaimed young American pianist Drew Petersen is a sought-after soloist\, recitalist and chamber musician. He has been praised for his commanding and poetic performances of repertoire ranging from Bach to Zaimont. He is the recipient of the 2018 Avery Fisher Career Grant and winner of the 2017 American Pianists Awards and Christel De Haan Classical Fellowship. \nAs a previous prizewinner of the Hilton Head International Piano Competition\, he will return in spring 2024 for the closing concert of the Bravo Piano! Festival. Recent appearances include numerous orchestral and recital appearances throughout the U.S. His 2018 Steinway & Sons release of his first solo recording included music of Barber\, Carter and other American composers which brought acclaim by BBC Music Magazine. \nA frequent radio contributor\, Petersen has performed on McGraw-Hill Young Artists Showcase\, From the Top\, and Performance Today. He has had profiles in The New York Times\, New York Magazine\, as well as being part of the documentary “just normal” by award-winning director Kim A. Snyder. \nDrew Petersen’s firm belief in the importance of music in contemporary society led to collaborations with Young Audiences NY that presents performances in New York City’s public schools. His appearance in Andrew Solomon’s New York Times bestselling book\, Far From the Tree\, sparked a nation-wide conversation on raising extraordinary and different children who test the willpower and capabilities of their families and society. Petersen continually advocates for the necessity of classical music and other arts in society\, and was named a 2006 Davidson Fellow for his portfolio entitled Keeping Classical Music Alive.

Recent engagements include her Royal Opera House debut in The Rape of Lucretia\, for which she was praised for her “unmistakably moving” portrayal of the Female Chorus (Opera Today)\, role debuts as both Mimì and Musetta in La Bohème\, and concert appearances with the Aldeburgh Festival and Carnegie Hall. In 2023/24 she debuted with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra (Bruckner’s Te Deum)\, Pacific Opera Victoria (Contessa Almaviva\, Le Nozze di Figaro)\, and returns to Montreal’s Maison Symphonique as the soprano soloist in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with Orchestre Philharmonique et Chœur des Mélomanes. The first prize winner of Edmonton Opera’s 2023 Rumbold Vocal Prize Competition\, she is a three-time prize winner at the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition. \nTerra String Quartet\nHarriet Langley\, violin | Amelia Dietrich\, violin | Chih-Ta Chen\, viola | Audrey Chen\, cello\nPrizewinners at both the 2023 Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition and 2023 Osaka International Chamber Music Competition\, the Terra String Quartet is a vibrant young international ensemble based in New York City.
