SUMMARY:Newburyport Art offers Intro to Chip Carving w/Eric Goodson
DESCRIPTION:“Intro to Chip Carving with Eric Goodson”\, in this 3-hour\, hands-on class\, you’ll be introduced to chip carving\, a timeless craft that transcends cultures and taps into a fundamental human impulse: mark-making. You’ll learn key knife grasps from Swiss and Swedish carving traditions\, discover how to assess the wood grain direction when planning your cuts\, and explore the interplay of light and shadow as you create a variety of shapes and patterns. No prior experience is necessary\, and as long as you can open a jar of spaghetti sauce\, you’ll have more than enough hand strength to dive right in.
