DESCRIPTION:Sea of Life is a collaborative project among three of the North Shore’s most prominent arts organizations: Rockport Art Association & Museum (RAA&M)\, The Orchestra on the Hill\, and Rockport Music (Shalin Liu Performance Center). Connecting young aspiring visual artists with professional composers\, the project will spur multifaceted community events celebrating the sea. \nCelebrating the Sea through Art & Music \nStudent artists from RAA&M’s Teen Arts Collaborative will learn from composers from The Orchestra on the Hill how visual art and concepts\, such as the sea\, can be parlayed into different musical styles. As students develop the art\, composers will brainstorm with them\, engage them in dialogue\, and write original orchestral compositions stemming from these creative exchanges. \nThe collaboration will culminate with exhibitions of the teens’ art at various local venues\, and a performance of the ensuing compositions at Rockport Music on April 30\, 2025. Audiences will experience a blend of visual art\, musical interpretation\, youthful perspective\, and adult collaboration\, all inspired by the sea.

Allison and vocalists Quiana Lynell and Milton Suggs\, New Orleans Songbook immerses audiences in the captivating and timeless spirit of this vibrant city. \nABOUT \nFor over three decades\, Jazz at Lincoln Center has been a leading advocate for jazz\, culture\, and arts education globally. Under the direction of Wynton Marsalis\, Jazz at Lincoln Center has brought the art form of jazz from the heart of New York City to over 446 cities in more than 40 countries. \nThe JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER PRESENTS touring initiative provides an affordable opportunity to present great jazz programming\, featuring up-and-coming musicians who have been identified as rising stars by JALC. The initiative also allows for expansion of the mission of JALC “to entertain\, enrich and expand a global community for jazz through performance\, education\, and advocacy.” \nApproximately 150\,000 students participate in Jazz at Lincoln Center’s education programs each year. “What is Jazz?”\, from the renowned education department at JALC is being offered in conjunction with the tour.

Beautifully presented recording…harmonising brilliantly.” — The Living Tradition \nABOUT \nFor more than 20 years\, Genticorum has earned a place of privilege on world\, traditional\, folk and Celtic music stages. Known for their unbridled energy\, their musicianship and their magnetic stage presence\, the trio has won over audiences at such prestigious events as Celtic Connections in Scotland\, the Tønder Folk Festival in Denmark\, the National Folk Festival in Australia\, the Independent Music Festival in Alexandria\, Egypt\, the Rain Forest Festival in Malaysia\, as well as countless venues across North America. \nPascal Gemme (fiddle) and Yann Falquet (guitar)\, the group’s two founding members\, are both recognized individually as major contributors to the trad music scene in Québec. Since 2015\, they have been joined by accomplished multi-instrumentalist and composer Nicholas Williams (flute\, accordion). Weaving intricate fiddle\, flute and accordion lines\, gorgeous vocal harmonies\, subtle guitar textures and exhilarating foot percussion\, the pleasure that these three musicians have creating and playing together is palpable\, both in the studio and on the concert stage.
