SUMMARY:C.J. Chenier and the Red Hot Louisiana Band
DESCRIPTION:3/6/25\nReserved Seats $30\nStanding $24\n7pm Doors / 7:30pm Show\n21+ / Positive I.D. Required \nClayton Joseph Chenier is Creole music royalty. His father\, the legendary Clifton Chenier\, invented the style of music we know today as Zydeco and was the first Creole musician to be recognized with a Grammy Award. \nC.J. joined his Father’s band on his 21st birthday. On the road his father showed him how to front a world class touring band\, teaching C.J.\, a multi-instrumentalist\, how to run the family business and how to develop his lifelong passion for music into a career. When Clifton died in 1987 his son\, C.J.\, adopted the Red Hot Louisiana Band and recorded his debut album for the great American independent label Arhoolie Records. \nAttending a C.J. Chenier show is a transformative experience. You may come in tired and beat up just from living in this world – but you will leave renewed and happy. And that is the promise C.J. makes\, “You can’t come to my show and stay unhappy. You’re going to break a smile before too long. This is happy music.”

SUMMARY:Amythyst Kiah
DESCRIPTION:3/5/25\nReserved Seats $25\nStanding $20\n7:00pm Doors / 7:30pm Show\n18+\, Positive I.D. Required \nOn her new album Still + Bright\, Tennessee-bred singer/songwriter Amythyst Kiah explores the vast expanse of her inner world: her deep-rooted affinity for Eastern philosophies and spiritual traditions\, a near-mystical connection with the natural environment\, the life lessons learned in her formative years as a self-described “anime-nerd mall goth\,” and much more. Produced by Butch Walker (Taylor Swift\, Green Day\, Weezer) and recorded at his Nashville studio\, Kiah’s second full-length for Rounder Records merges her revelatory storytelling with a darkly cinematic twist on the rootsy alt-rock of her 2021 breakthrough Wary + Strange—an LP that landed on Rolling Stone’s list of the 25 Best Country and Americana Albums of 2021 and drew acclaim from major outlets like Pitchfork. With its sonic palette encompassing everything from fuzzed-out guitars and industrial-leaning beats to gilded pedal steel and Kiah’s exquisitely graceful banjo work\, Still + Bright makes for a vital new addition to a body of work largely dedicated to exploring the struggle and joy of true self-discovery. \nThe latest turn in a dynamic career that’s included joining Our Native Daughters (an all-women-of-color supergroup also featuring Rhiannon Giddens\, Leyla McCalla\, and Allison Russell)\, Still + Bright emerged from a deliberate transformation of the songwriting process Kiah adopted after composing her first song on a Fender acoustic at age 13. To that end\, the album marks her first time opening up her approach and working with co-writers\, including punk legend Tim Armstrong\, Sadler Vaden (a guitarist/vocalist for Jason Isbell’s 400 Unit)\, and former Pentatonix member Avi Kaplan. Although her third LP is an undeniable departure from the anguished emotionality of its predecessor (an album informed by losing her mother to suicide at age 17)\, Kiah imparts each track with a hypnotic intensity born from boldly stating her convictions. Revealing her rare ability to spin her fascinations into songs uncovering essential truths about human nature\, Still + Bright ultimately affirms her as an artist of both daring originality and uncompromising depth.

SUMMARY:The LeeVees Hanukkah Party For All
DESCRIPTION:12/13/24\nReserved Seating $30\nStanding $24 \nAll Ages\, under 18 must be accompanied by a parent. \nThe LeeVees are a rock band featuring Adam Gardner of Guster and Dave Schneider of the Zambonis. The band was formed when the two bands toured together. The latter band only writes songs about ice hockey. Gardner and Schneider thought it would be fun to form another rock band\, a Jewish one\, that only wrote songs about Hanukkah\, because there was a dearth of contemporary songs about that holiday. It first came to prominence near the end of 2005 with its debut album\, Hanukkah Rocks. After realizing its initial approach was rather narrow\, it continues as a band with a strong Jewish identity. Hanukkah Rocks producer Peter Katis had previously worked with Guster\, as well as a range of indie-rock acts.

Founded in 2013\, The BrassFed Nation is dedicated to the advancement of horn-driven music through exposure and outreach in both education and local musical culture! The collective features 3 unique ensembles; Cape Ann Big Band\, The Jambalaya Horns\, and The 13-Piece DubTone Orchestra – all striving to inspire and connect musicians of all ages through performances\, private studio lessons\, workshops\, and interactive clinics. \nABOUT THIS PERFORMANCE:\nPaying homage to the infectious beats and sounds of New Orleans\, the BrassFed Orchestra will cue the “Big Four” and transport audience members to the streets of the Crescent City for a Holiday Celebration that is full of surprises! This year’s program will showcase members of The Jambalaya Horns and feature a number of guest instrumentalists from the New England music scene! Featured Vocalists are Jack Favazza and Rhiannon Hurst. \nABOUT CARLOS MENEZES JR:\nPrimarily playing the Tenor Sax and Trombone\, Carlos strives to bring the big sounds of his main influences\, Gene Ammons\, Stan Getz\, and Sonny Rollins to the stage. Reflecting his own sound and style\, audience members can expect a few squeaks and honks in good humor. In 2011 he formed the Cape Ann Big Band with friends Shawn Lowe\, Mike Lentini\, Paula Burns\, and Rick Geraghty. Since then\, the group has performed over 30 consecutive sell-out performances and has become a staple in the North Shore during the holiday season. \nBetween 2012 and 2017 he toured professionally on sax and trombone with NYC’s “The Toasters” and had the honor and privilege of playing alongside some of the best in the genre. In that time he performed in front of thousands of fans across 43 countries in 4 different continents. Whether the audience was a couple hundred in a small club or tens of thousands in a stadium\, the experience was enlightening and revealed just how powerful music can be when it comes to connecting people. Driven by the support of his family\, friends\, bandmates\, and community\, he will stop at nothing to inspire and connect audiences and listeners of all ages! \n“Music is my passion\, and working within the community is one of the greatest joys of my life. What I truly love about music is that we never age-out of it\, we just become more experienced and wiser as we open our ears and eyes to the musical world around us.” \nWEBSITE: www.brassfednation.com
