She has toured across the globe\, acting as an ambassador of American music on behalf of the US State Department by performing and teaching in India\, Kazakhstan\, Uzbekistan\, Bangladesh\, Estonia\, Greece\, Ukraine\, and Montenegro. Now\, she holds space and builds community for musicians in Belgium as the co-founder of the monthly Bright Lights Session in Ghent. As always\, her vision is as expansive as her background. “We’re working to basically write a new folk tradition\,” she says. Were it anyone else\, you’d think it impossible. Los Lobos have helped spread the rich diversity of cultures across every continent\, throughout the global community. Kids in Antwerp now know about Aztlán. Residents of Luxor and Ghana are crooning Lalo Guerrero. People from Laos and Bulgaria are belting “La Bamba” — all thanks to The Wolves as cultural ambassadors. Talk about a living legacy. Show starts at 7:00pm.\nFunds raised will support local hunger-relief programs of The Open Door.\nIn 2023\, The Open Door distributed 1.98 MILLION pounds of food (1.65 MILLION meals) to 9\,836 people (4\,952 households)\, and along with supporting our hunger-relief programs\, Second Glance kept more than 193\,000 POUNDS of goods out of the landfill.\nThank you! DESCRIPTION:The In Bloom Listening Series is an intimate listening experience with incredible local talent. On the bill for September 5th we have Kimaya Diggs\, Joe Wilkins\, and Connor Hennessey. \nKimaya Diggs \nKimaya Diggs is an emerging artist and songwriter from Western Massachusetts. Her new album “Quincy” explores Diggs’ unique style of Soul\, Folk\, and R&B. Diggs was nominated in the “Best New Artist” and “Album of the Year” categories at the 2023 New England Music Awards and was recently honored as one of 10 artists of color making a difference in the Boston area by WBUR. She has opened for the likes of Trombone Shorty\, Lizzie No\, Tank and The Bangas\, and has toured with Heather Maloney. The Boston Globe calls her “Expressive\, smooth vocals…she’s kind of an unstoppable force.” \nhttps://www.kimayadiggs.com/ \nJoe Wilkins \nJoe Wilkins is a Cape Ann based singer/songwriter and multi instrumentalist. Joe writes songs about real life\, often with stories about real people\, as well as situations we can all relate to and places we’ve all been. His lyrics are universally accessible\, and create a sense of really being present in the narrative of the song. It is the only thing I like doing and sort of have a knack for. I try to get better every day. I have lived in Massachusetts my whole life\, and enjoy the characters and going-on’s around me.
