SUMMARY:JUNGLE with William James
DESCRIPTION:After five years in Los Angeles\, William James has returned to his roots in Gloucester. This homecoming is part of a pivotal shift in his musical journey\, as he has stepped away from the world of Future Bass to embrace the rich\, emotive worlds of Progressive House and Melodic Techno.\nWilliam’s music is more than just sound—it’s an experience. Whether through a single track or a live set\, his performances are emotional voyages that captivate audiences. His signature style blends cinematic soundscapes with beautiful\, evocative melodies that spark feelings of wonder\, nostalgia\, and inspiration.\n“Music is therapy\,” William says. “It can express emotions that words can’t. Sharing it with the world makes me happy.”\nDuring his time in LA\, William’s talent caught the attention of big names like Illenium\, Said The Sky\, Manila Killa\, and Jai Wolf. This led to his official remix of Illenium’s “Without You\,” featured on the “Ashes (Remixes)” album. The track\, showcased on the popular Mrsuicidesheep channel\, has racked up an impressive number of plays.\nNow\, back in Gloucester\, William is channeling his growth and experiences into a fresh sound. His goal remains simple yet powerful: to touch people’s lives through his music\, whether in big ways or small.\nAs he dives into Progressive House and Melodic Techno\, William brings with him the emotional depth and melodic brilliance that have always been his hallmarks. Fans old and new can look forward to a sonic journey that’s both familiar and excitingly new—a testament to an artist who’s not afraid to evolve while staying true to his core.\nStay tuned for William James’s next chapter. It promises to be his most thrilling and heartfelt yet. \n21+ / Doors @ 8:30p Music @ 9p / Free.99

I.D). 7:00pm doors / 7:45pm start\nGeneral Admission Seating\, $15 \nThe filmmaker\, Shep Abbott will be in attendance for a Q & A following the film. \nIn 2015\, we began production on “Gloucester Speaks” in advance of our 400th Anniversary\, to record in a video documentary the voices and activities of our citizens during this disruptive period of change. The reduction of traditional fish stocks and resulting strict state regulations on fishermen has led to social\, cultural and economic challenges never before experienced by the oldest fishing port in America. Beginning in 1606\, when Samuel de Champlain named Gloucester Harbor “Le Beauport”\, Gloucester\, through the voices of its citizens\, speaks to the enormity of our reliance on one of the world’s greatest fisheries\, revealing the towering achievements and innovations\, along with the slow but sure depletion of the fishery through advances in technology and the pressure of demand\, along with the effects of pollution and global warming. In this documentary\, covering the eight years leading up to 2023\, as well as the 400 years preceding it\, the citizens tell the story of a great American City’s unique struggle to remain true to Le Beauport.

The band is on tour promoting their fourth studio album ‘Dark River.’ \nBlending classic soul power with a folk songwriter lyricism\, New England’s Ali McGuirk has the rare ability to silence a room with just a few words of a song. With a voice that is raw and sultry and a style rooted in improvisation\, her sets are a hypnotic and intimate journey. \nOn her Signature Sounds Recordings debut ’Til It’s Gone\, McGuirk delivers a sublime set of songs that pairs her trademark soul sound with rootsy turns and raw rock ‘n’ roll detours. The album landed on the Boston Globe’s Top 50 Albums list for 2022. Consequence of Sound raved\, “‘All Back’ feels like it could exist somewhere outside of space and time– it could be on a record in the background of a party in a 1970s bungalow\, or it could be on your Discover Weekly playlist on Spotify. Either way\, it’s a great listen.”

DESCRIPTION:07/31/24\nG.A. Standing 7:00pm doors / 8:00pm show\nAll Ages $15 student pricing / $25 adult \nYouthful energy. Infectious dance beat. Authentic big band sound. \nThe music of the Swing Era (1935-1946) reached mainstream popularity among young people back in the day\, and the 18-piece Beantown Swing Orchestra will show you why. The band trains teen musicians using pre-WWII instruments on performance techniques that made their great-grandparents want to dance as youngsters themselves. These old-school methods are so specialized and unknown by most modern musicians that the result is a “new” and refreshing sound that can be best experienced in certain venues\, such as The Cut Live with its dance hall acoustics and vintage vibe. Enjoy the glory and excitement of big band music as people did over 80 years ago!

SUMMARY:Duane Betts & Palmetto Motel with Wilson & Walsh
DESCRIPTION:7/20/24\nPartial Seating & GA Standing. 7:00pm Doors\, 8:00pm Show\n21+\, Positive I.D. Required. $36-$42 \nBy the time Duane Betts began working on Wild & Precious Life — his triumphant debut solo album — he’d already spent the better part of two decades creating his own version of guitar-slinging\, story-driven American rock & roll. \n“It felt like the right time to make something that was entirely my own vision\,” he says. “This is a record that guitar players will love\, but at its core\, it’s really a song record. It’s an album about who I am\, where I come from\, and what I believe in.” \nDuane had spent 10 years playing guitar alongside his father\, legendary Allman Brother Dickey Betts. He’d release an EP\, Sketches of American Music and co-found Allman Betts Band. \nEven so\, the need to create a full-length solo LP gnawed at him; one that nodded to his roots while simultaneously pushing ahead. Following his instincts\, Duane assembled Johnny Stachela\, Berry Duane Oakley\, John Ginty and Tyler Greenwell\, and took up an offer from friends Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks to record at their Swamp Raga Studio in Jacksonville. The album was cut to 2-inch analog tape during a series of live studio performances in 2022.

The Gravel Project’s live show blends rock\, world music and jazz with power and soul. Carrying the tradition of 70’s blues and psychedelic rock music\, The Gravel Project embodies the spirit of Santana combined with the classic raw energy and moving songwriting of The Allman Brothers and Tedeschi Trucks Band. With three studio albums\, a live album and countless past performances\, the future is bright for Boston’s The Gravel Project\, and as the title of their 2022 studio album suggests\, there are “Many Miles Ahead.” \nWood and Bone\nWood & Bone is an American Roots band originating from Salem MA. Led by singer/songwriter Jesse Joseph (aka Qwill)\, the band’s sound is an ever-changing blend of harmony-driven Indie tinged Folk\, Americana\, Soul\, and Blues. In the spirit of bands like The Grateful Dead\, each Wood & Bone performance is a unique experience\, with improvisation and experimentation skillfully layered upon solid songwriting and vocal harmonies. \nThe band’s primary members are Joe Wilkins; (vocals\, guitar\, mandolin)\, Dennis Monagle; (vocal\, drums) Joe Cardoza; (bass). The Band released the 3 song EP\, Rising Smoke in 2021\, and is currently in the studio working on a full length album as well as performing around the Northeast and beyond. \nHDRNB\nHDRnB is an original R&B/soul/groove band founded by in late 2010\, featuring Henley Douglas Jr. (sax)\, John Iltis (drums)\, Charlie O’Neal (guitar)\, Peter Fedele (guitar) and Brandon Tarricone (guitar) Squantch (trombone)\, David Walker (bass). The band features Garret Savluk (trumpet) and Yahuba (percussion) on special shows. Henley Douglas Jr.’s early career includes stints with the Big Dig Saxophone Quartet and Skin\, a Boston-based funk-rock outfit that would open for acts like the Neville Brothers and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He founded the Heavy Metal Horns\, a band that reached international acclaim in the 90s\, and for 10 years\, fronted the Boston Horns\, a funk/jazz band also featuring HMH alum Garret Savluk. A new CD of original music is on the way.
