SUMMARY:A Night of Comedy Featuring Christine Hurley\, Kathy Gilmour\, and Tim Champa
DESCRIPTION:06/22/24\nSeated 7:30pm doors / 8:30pm show\n21+\, Positive I.D. Required $30 \nJoin us for an unforgettable comedy night! 90 minutes of non-stop laughter from Kathy Gilmour\, Tim Champa\, and the hilarious Christine Hurley! \nChristine Hurley loves what she does…making people laugh! Married to Jimmy Hurley and having five kids\, Christine is never at a loss for comedic material.Like any great comedian\, Christine has an innate ability to see humor in “everyday” situations. For years\, she entertained family\, friends and neighbors in their kitchens\, at barbeques and the grocery store aisles. The only difference now is she uses a microphone and a stage. \nChristine’s maiden voyage into the world of stand up comedy was an open audition in New York City. The television network Nick at Nite was looking for “AMERICA’S FUNNIEST MOM.” She figured if it didn’t go well\, no one in New York would have known who she was anyway… \nTurns out it went well! Out of thousands of entries\, Christine was selected to be a finalist on the nationally televised show. The producers of the show included Carol Leifer (Seinfeld show producer)\, Jeff Singer (talent scout\, Montreal Comedy Festival)\, Jeffrey Ross (Comedy Central roast master) and actress Sandra Bernhardt. \nHer stories and views on motherhood and marriage are exactly what everyone is living through…people get it and love it! \nChristine Hurley has quickly become a favorite in the Boston comedy world. She works with\, and is respected by Boston’s comedic legends. Among them being; Don Gavin\, Lenny Clarke\, Steve Sweeney\, Paul D’Angelo\, Paul Nardizzi\, Patty Ross\, Tony V\, Loretta Laroche\,…and her biggest fan and mentor Johnny Pizzi.

SUMMARY:Entrain
DESCRIPTION:06/14/24\nReserved Rails and G.A. Standing 7:30pm doors / 8:30pm show\n21+\, Positive I.D. Required $25-30 \nEpic in sound and kaleidoscopic in vision\, Boston Music Award winning band “Entrain” is the eclectic Martha’s Vineyard-based group that has been thrilling critics and fans alike for decades. Led by drummer/founder Tom Major and guitarist Brian Alex\, their collective resume includes stints with such diverse players as Bo Diddley\, Bob Weir\, James Taylor\, Carly Simon\, Donna Summer\, Missing Persons\, Chuck Berry\, Southside Johnny\, and a one-time sit-in performance with President Bill Clinton. \nEntrain shifts effortlessly between musical styles – from rock\, blues\, calypso and ska\, to zydeco\, jazz and funk – often within the same song. Their latest record “Reason To Feel Good” has enjoyed heavy rotation among numerous stations\, including regular plays on Kenny Chesney’s “No Shoes Radio”. Entrain’s feel-good single “Lucky Just to Be Alive\,” was number 2 in WMVY radio’s top 25 songs\, only behind superstar Adele. \nThe percussion heavy influence has been described by former Boston Globe music critic Steve Morse as “Enough drums to sink a battleship!”

SUMMARY:Jon Langford and The Bright Shiners with Jesse Ahern
DESCRIPTION:6/13/24\n21+\, Positive I.D. Required. 7:00p Doors / 8:00p show \nJon Langford and The Bright Shiners is a new project featuring welsh fundamentalist punk rocker Jon Langford (Mekons\, 3 Johns\, Waco Brothers etc.) teamed up with charismatic jazz singer and experimental keyboardist Alice Spencer (Shinyribs\, Barkers)\, fellow Four Lost Soul and guitar wizard John Szymanski and longtime deputy Mekon Tamineh Gueramy on violin and great hair. The album comes out on Tiny Global Productions of Valencia (Nightingales\, House of All) this April and is called Where It Really Starts. \nWhen Jesse Ahern walks onstage\, he looks like a regular guy — albeit one with a Gretsch guitar strapped across his body and an anchor tattoo under his right eye. As he tears through his set\, easily rousing brand new crowds to shout his choruses back in his face\, it’s clear Jesse could be everybody’s friend. \nAhern’s tunes hold high the clenched fists of the working class. Others put on full display the raw\, open heart of a man who is dedicated to love\, and has known enough loss to cherish what he has at home. Still others reveal the tender\, protective arms of a father who misses his kids when he’s off touring the world.

SUMMARY:Session Americana
DESCRIPTION:5/19/24\n21+\, Positive. I.D. Required. 7:00pm Doors / 8:00pm Show \nLate one Sunday night in October 2003\, Session Americana had its first jam around a table in the back of Toad in Cambridge\, Massachusetts. Looking back\, the group has had a natural\, almost inevitable evolution from a loose bunch of friends sitting around swapping songs in a bar\, to a hot-ticket weekly residency\, to a touring collective. Along the way\, the band has made nine records (so far)\, played clubs and festivals across the U.S. and Europe\, and developed deep collaborative bonds with a wide community of musicians. Session Americana’s diligent avoidance of music business “shoulds” has led the band down a quirky and joyful path through the music world. The result is evident in the musical prowess the players and singers bring to every show. Swapping instruments\, trading off lead vocals and sharing songwriting credits\, Session Americana is constantly exploring new collaborations and touring like a band out of time\, always searching for a welcoming and homey venue\, a long lunch with old friends\, and a good glass of wine.

DESCRIPTION:5/10/2024\n21+ / Positive I.D. Required. 8:00p doors / 8:30p show \nIt’s obvious listening to Sarah Shook and the Disarmers’ clear-eyed\, biting\, and unafraid songs that integrity is the most important thing to the Chapel Hill\, North Carolina\, country-punk outfit. “A lot of artists are in this industry for fame\, recognition\, and money but those things don’t mean anything to me\,” says bandleader River Shook. “Songwriting is it for me. It’s the only real healthy coping mechanism I’ve ever had. It’s life-saving. I don’t care about any superficial things when I’m making a record.” On their resonant fourth album Revelations\, produced by Shook and out March 29 via Thirty Tigers\, these raw and resilient tracks come first. Throughout\, Shook’s deft storytelling documents regular people getting by and keeping on\, all presented without filter or pretension.

SUMMARY:Sarah Shook & the Disarmers with Nicolette and the Nobodies
DESCRIPTION:21+ / Positive I.D. \n“The best country songs take you home\,” says Nicolette Hoang\, frontwoman and songwriter for the Guelph\, Ontario-based band\, Nicolette & The Nobodies. “I want to write music that does that\, songs that take you home.” \nNicolette is romantic about retro Western music; she speaks with a soft grit\, a warm and distinguished rattle that lends her observations weight. Performing\, she loosens into an unabashed howl\, a fluid force turning upward at the edges with unmistakable twang. She keeps her lyrics no-nonsense—earthy comments on the human condition\, floridity be damned. She reserves her flamboyance and flair for onstage attire—cowboy hats\, fringed vests with matching hot pants\, boots by all accounts made for walking.
