Required \nSteve Sweeney Boston Comedy LEGEND featuring Jody Slaone \nCharlestown-born Steve Sweeney is known as the “undisputed King of Boston comedy“\, the embodiment of the city he calls home\, a local guy who has become a nationally recognizable talent. \nSweeney is known not only as a headlining comedian\, but also through his many memorable TV and movie appearances. During the early 1970s\, a small group of Boston ‘would-be’ comedians performed regularly at a comedy club started by Martin Olson and Barry Crimmins in a back room of the Chinese restaurant\, Ding-Ho\, near Inman Square in Cambridge\, MA. This group also included such unknowns as Lenny Clarke\, Kevin Meaney\, Jay Leno\, Bobcat Goldthwait\, Bill Sohonage\, and Steven Wright. Steve stood out from the crowd by incorporating his great insight into the New England political scene into his act. \nHe was the first of the Boston super-stars to break into television\, appearing on “Park Street Under\,” a Boston based sitcom that many believe was the inspiration for the highly successful television show “Cheers.” He’s also been on “Late Night with David Letterman\,” “Evening at The Improv” and “Comics Come Home.” You might remember his small but hilarious parts in films such as Rodney Dangerfield’s “Back to School\,” Judd Apatow’s “Celtic Pride\,” and “There’s Something About Mary” with Ben Stiller. \nHe was on the morning show on 100.7 FM WZLX\, first with “Mornings with Tai and Steve Sweeney”\, followed by “Steve Sweeney’s Neighborhood” after Tai left the station. In 2005 he opened Steve Sweeney’s Comedy Club in Boston’s Copley Square with longtime friend Dick Doherty. \nJody Sloane \nGrowing up\, Sloane had a knack for finding humor in the darkest corners of life. Whether it was the absurdity of a government cheese sculpture or the quirks of her mother’s self-medicating with Winstons and Ring Dings\, nothing was off-limits for her infectious laughter-inducing commentary. Her friends quickly learned that any situation could become a comedy goldmine with her around. \nFast forward to mid-life\, Sloane cut her entertainment teeth doing her sit-down schtick as a cheeky conductor on the Boston duck tours. Her duck tour experience was the perfect tee up to becoming a standup comedian. Formed and led by drummer Tom Major in 1993 while on hiatus from touring with rock legend Bo Diddley\, Entrain has been blessed with a list of top tier musicians over the years. Tom takes the stage with lead singer/guitar wiz Brian Alex. Often joining them is bassist M’Talewa\, saxophonist/percussionist Hilary Noble\, saxophonist/accordion Klem Klemik\, trombone/keys Lennie Peterson\, and percussionist Eggiest Castrillo. Their collective resume includes stints with such diverse players as Bo Diddley\, Carly Simon\, Chuck Berry\, Southside Johnny\, James Mongomery\, Gary Burton\, and Blood\, Sweat\, and Tears. \nEntrain has recorded eight albums\, available on Dolphin Safe Records\, all of which have been praised for their ability to shift effortlessly between musical styles – from rock\, blues\, calypso and ska\, to zydeco\, jazz and funk – often within the same song. \n“The whole Entrain concept is based on the drums and infectious rhythms. Required \nMighty Mystic is considered as one of the leaders in the international reggae scene and is a box office draw at venues and a staple at festivals. The Jamaican born U.S. based artist has 5 highly acclaimed albums 4 of which charted top 10 on Billboard and iTunes. He is labeled as a touring machine with roughly 40 tours equaling thousands of concerts and a career spanning two decades. His high flying\, stage diving\, brand of reggae music is electrifying and has been captivating audiences everywhere. He has gone from being a fan of reggae music to being a major contributor to the art. Mighty Mystic came on the scene in 2006 after scoring back-to-back international hits with “Riding on the Clouds” and “Revolution”. However\, it wasn’t until the release of his first album “Wake up the World” (2010) that he became a household name. “Wake up the World” was a chart-topping album with guest appearance by reggae icon Shaggy. Mystic continues to wake up the world with energy and passion and a brand of his own which he emphatically calls “Hard Roots”. FUN FACT: Mighty Mystic is also the younger brother of current Jamaican Prime Minister the Honorable Andrew Holness. THE EARLY YEARS Mighty Mystic was born Kevin Mark Holness in the farming community of Goshen\, St. Elizabeth\, Jamaica to parents Morris & Sonia Holness. As a child\, Kevin showed early interest in his native island’s music. It was common to hear him singing the latest tunes while imitating the actions of popular reggae artists. When Kevin was 9\, the family left Goshen and relocated to Boston. Though oceans apart Kevin never lost the passion for his beloved reggae music. Kevin alongside his brother Stephen began performing at school talent shows\, outdoor gatherings and anywhere a mic was on display and quickly made a name for themselves as the “reggae rappers”. Soon after the brothers formed their first band the “Thunder Band”. Kevin became “Mystic” as it was his dads nickname and also the name of the area in Boston where he lived. With Mystic on vocals and Stephen on the lightening sharp guitar the brothers would score a National hit (Riding on the Clouds) and a Global hit (Revolution) on their two first releases. This early success and family bond would be the foundation of which carefully crafted reggae music would flow. MYSTIC OF TODAY Though his brother Stephen has since retired\, Mighty Mystic has continued to carry the reggae torch. And is now a Globally respected and sought-after artist on the reggae scene. His brand of “HARD ROOTS” with his high energy stage performance has been a magnet for the enthusiastic reggae fan base. He has managed to hold firm to his Jamaican roots while adding elements of Hip Hop and Rock giving Mystic his own identifiable sound. To date Mighty Mystic has released 5 successful albums Wake up the World 2010\, Concrete World 2014\, The Art of Balance 2016\, Enter the Mystic 2019 and Giant 2022. After his shifts at a local restaurant\, he would play music for friends at bonfires on the beach. He released his debut single “Road Song” and garnered a surprisingly positive reaction from the masses. Since then\, Zane has put out 7 singles\, and is now working on his debut album Awaken slated for next year. A notable collaborator on his music is producer Jon Gilbert (Mt. Joy\, Oliver Hazard\, Flipturn\, Arcy Drive).
