Neil Miller has been a performer for most of his life. As a professional magician he
racked up more than 50 shows by his thirteenth birthday. His high school band started
him on a lifelong path to be the musician he is today. Trained as a classical pianist from
the age of seven, he later paid his dues working seven-nighters playing R&B in Boston’s
infamous Combat Zone. He has appeared at over one hundred venues throughout the
Northeast, from the dirtiest dives to the largest concert halls. For ten years he
led the house band for gospel singer Reverend Lee Mitchell at the Original House of
Blues in Harvard Square, and wrote and performed on three of the Rev’s CDs.
After completing a double major in music and electrical engineering, he was on the road
for ten years with a variety of bands you have not heard of. Neil designed, modified,
built or rebuilt most of the equipment that has made up his evolving keyboard rig.
Neil is among the few musicians who have played with both Bo Diddley and the Boston
Symphony Orchestra. He has worked with original members of legendary acts including
the Belmonts, the Vandellas, the band Boston, the Contours, the Chiffons, Gary US
Bonds, Peaches and Herb, the Shirelles, and Tiny Tim.
More recently, he appears with his classical chamber trio, his jazz/blues/jam trio RnB3,
and with many of the finest vocalists in the Boston area. He is a piano soloist at local
venues and private functions, and in the lobby of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
As an engineer, he has created musical products for Ovation Guitars, Parker Guitars,
Fishman Transducers and designed the electronics for the Scholz Rockman, a
legendary guitar processor heard on many hit records including from the bands Boston,
ZZ Top, and Moody Blues.
