The North of Boston Convention and Visitors Bureau, Inc. (NBCVB) is a private, nonprofit, membership based organization responsible for promotion of Essex County as a travel destination.
Established by legislation as one of Massachusetts 16 Regional Tourism Councils, NBCVB is the official liaison between the North of Boston region and the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism.
The NBCVB has been in existence since 1955 and is located in Salisbury, MA at the Maria Miles Visitor Center on I-95 South.
The North of Boston CVB is managed by a professional staff with the Executive Director responsible for the day-to-day operations of the agency. The overall mission of the North of Boston CVB is to develop and implement effective marketing strategies to increase the number of overnight visitors to Massachusetts.
The Executive Director reports to a Board of Directors and its Executive Board (Chairman, Vice Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary, and three at large members). This group of elected representatives along with the Executive Director set the long-range objectives of the organization.
The Bureau is presently comprised of a membership of more than 200 businesses located throughout Essex, Middlesex and Suffolk counties.
The Bureau works cooperatively with other destination marketing organizations agencies throughout Essex County. Our partners include Essex National Heritage Commission, local DMO’s and Chambers of Commerce, and Elected Officials throughout Essex County. Many of the region’s local leaders serve on the Board of Directors for NBCVB.
Members are encouraged to be actively involved in the CVB. A number of committees have been established to address the diverse needs of the membership. Existing committees include: Marketing Committee, Sales Committee, Tourism Summit Committee, Visitor Center Committee, Nominating committee, and Strategic Planning Committee.
