A Stroll through the Haverhill Art Walk

Have you ever walked through a city street full of art? Or mingled with artists of all kinds by simply taking an afternoon stroll? That is what I experienced the weekend of July 10, 2021, for the Haverhill Art Walk. The event is a mixture of indoor and outdoor exhibits happening on the second Saturday during the months of May through September from 3-7 p.m. It is a great opportunity for the community and also promotes local businesses in downtown Haverhill.
Before I explored the Haverhill art walk, I had a hankering for quality food and drinks. I fueled up at an excellent restaurant called The Tap Brewing Company. The establishment has been open since 2003 and has produced award-winning ales and lagers in their historic town. They serve American pub food and craft beer, offering something for everyone to enjoy. They produce their beer in-house, making it so people can witness the brewing of their beer before it is moved to fermentation on site!
Entering the restaurant, you see a classic bar-like scene with a wooden design and comfortable leather booths. But when you enter the outdoor space on the back deck, you experience something else entirely. The patio is blossoming with activity, brightness, and color. The design of the back deck is more like a garden with flowers on the walls, across the rails, and intricately placed on a decorative bike. We could not stop talking about the gorgeous flowers.
The staff was friendly, inviting and attentive. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Flatbread—which I recommend if you enjoy spicy foods—and the Nirvana cocktail which was exceptional (I was told this is a fan favorite for most customers). The food and drinks came out quickly, the weather was beautiful outside, and the place had a lively vibe. My boyfriend and I promised we would come back again soon with friends.
Next, we left to walk down the street for the Art Walk. The red balloons marked artist locations, and the adventure began. I spoke to a fascinating artist named Melissa Venti Morrison, who enlightened me about her work, the community involvement she has gains her art, and why she enjoys the art walks so much. She started Venti Creations, which features acrylic mandala paintings, jewelry, and fiber art. She often holds workshops for people who want to learn more about creating the mandala paintings as well (upcoming workshops are available on her website). Melissa expressed that the best part of the event is that artists can stop by and explain their own art or what mediums they use. The conversations are exciting, and it is the best way to meet new people, clients, or artists with a similar passio
Not only are there painters, illustrators and designers, but musicians are also a part of the Art Walk, playing a variety of music throughout the day. I passed by two fun musical groups surrounded by people listening and dancing.
It was a wonderful day for advancing creative culture and bringing visitors to local businesses during the summer months.
