Hockney Reproduction(s): Film screening of “Secret Knowledge” followed by a Q&A

Join us for a screening of the 2001 BBC documentary, “Secret Knowledge,” a film based on a thought-provoking art history book by David Hockney that argues great Old Masters used optical devices like concave mirrors and lenses to achieve hyperrealistic detail and perspective centuries before photography. Followed by a Q&A with Manship Artist and close friend of David Hockney, Bing McGilvray.

Hockney Reproduction(s), on view through October 18, 2026, is a major exhibition exploring the artist’s six-decade engagement with reproductive technologies through more than seventy posters, rare fax works, prints, photographic composites, digital drawings, and video installations.
