In honor of America’s 250th and the Frederic Church 200, The Trustees will present a series of two lectures to honor the American landscape. Each lecture will be followed by a reception with light refreshments. The series, Celebrating the American Landscape: In Art and In Nature, includes:

Sept. 24th – Olana: Frederic Church’s Vision of Art & Landscape presented by Sean Sawyer, PhD, President of The Olana Partnership. This first lecture will showcase the artistic visions of Hudson River School landscape artist Frederic Church (1826-1900). Church created Olana, his artful 250-acre home and studio, now a National Historic Landmark in Hudson, New York.
Oct. 1st – Preserving Scenic Beauty in Charles Eliot’s Museum of Landscapes presented by Cindy Brockway, Trustees Senior Managing Director of Cultural Resources. The second lecture in the series celebrates the New England landscape that surrounds us, which remains at the heart of The Trustees’ mission as founded by Charles Eliot in 1891.
