An evening of Chopin chamber music brought by acclaimed cellist Colin Carr, pianist Eric Guo (Winner of 2023 Chopin Competition on Period Instruments), and the Terra Quartet (Silver Medalist in the 2023 Melbourne Chamber Competition), among others. The concert culminates with Chopin’s spectacularly grand Piano Concerto No. 1, Op. 11 arranged for piano and string quartet.

Eric Guo, piano
First Prize winner in the 2nd Chopin Competition on Period Instruments, pianist Eric Guo has won top prizes at numerous competitions, including 2019 Fifth Canadian Chopin, 2019 Hastings Concerto Competition in the United Kingdom, among many others. A Toronto native, Eric Guo was granted full scholarship to The Taylor Academy of The Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, Canada, and was named one of the 2019 CBC 30 Hot Canadian Classical Musicians Under 30. As a soloist, Guo has performed with orchestras such as the Minnesota Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of UK, Ural Youth Symphony Orchestra of Russia, Drummondville Orchestra of Canada, Orchestra Toronto of Canada, and Oakville Orchestra of Canada. A Toronto native, Eric Guo started his piano journey at the age of 4. Presently, he is pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance (Honours) at The Glenn Gould School of The Royal Conservatory in Toronto, under the mentorship of John Perry and David Louie, supported by a full scholarship.
Terra Quartet

Prizewinners at both the 2023 Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition and 2023 Osaka International Chamber Music Competition, the Terra String Quartet is a vibrant young international ensemble based in New York City. They are composed of graduates of The Juilliard School, The New England Conservatory, Harvard University and the Curtis Institute of Music. Praised for their “remarkable maturity and musicality” (Hyde Park Herald, Chicago), has garnered additional wins including the Grand Prize and Gold Medal at the 2022 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and the Christine and David Anderson Career Development Prize at the 2022 Banff International String Quartet Competition. TSQ is a member of Le Dimore del Quartetto in Italy and is the first quartet to have been chosen to participate in the Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival’s Professional Fellowship Program at East Carolina University.
Colin Carr, cello
Colin Carr appears throughout the world as a soloist, chamber musician, recording artist, and teacher. He has played with major orchestras worldwide, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, The Philharmonia, Royal Philharmonic, BBC Symphony, the orchestras of Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington, Philadelphia, Montréal and all the major orchestras of Australia and New Zealand. As a member of the Golub-Kaplan-Carr Trio, he recorded and toured extensively for 20 years. He is a frequent visitor to international chamber music festivals worldwide and has appeared often as a guest with the Guarneri and Emerson string quartets and with New York’s Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.
