Take a Tour of Breweries, Wineries, & Distilleries North of Boston

November 29, 2022

The communities North of Boston have so many amazing distinctions from scenic coastal areas to soft sandy beaches and from hiking trails to cobblestone paths in quaint downtowns. The unique offering of restaurants, shops, and local/national history of these communities is unmatched.

Traveling through the region, it is easy to fall in love with the maritime history, local history, architecture, and small-town atmosphere that only New England communities can offer. There is no place that embodies that welcoming and pioneering spirit more than the local breweries, wineries, and distilleries North of Boston.

Let’s take a quick tour of some of our favorite breweries, wineries, and distilleries on the North Shore of Massachusetts.

The Tap Brewing Company

Located in Haverhill, Massachusetts, The Tap Brewing Company has been proudly producing award-winning ales and lagers since 2003. This 10-barrel brewhouse is capable of producing 300 gallons of beer per batch and is located right inside the brewpub. Watch through large glass windows as the fermenting and serving vessels process and create the batches right before your eyes.

Choose from a comprehensive list of craft beers on tap as well as cans-to-go or specialty cocktails such as martinis, hard ciders, or wines. There are even some fun boozy freeze pops in specialty flavors that change weekly.

Check out the full dinner menu, beers on tap, and all the brewed options on their site.

Gentile Brewing Company

The next stop on our tour takes us to Beverly, Massachusetts, and the Gentile Brewing Company. This family-owned and operated nano craft brewery is community-focused as well as family and dog-friendly.

The Gentile Brewing taproom is a great place to enjoy tastes, flights, full beers, half pours, or get cans to-go or 32 and 64-ounce growlers filled to take with you. In addition to finding a wide range of beers on tap in their taproom, Gentile Brewing is offered across the North Shore in many dining establishments. Look for their label and enjoy them next time you are dining out.

Visit their site to find out about news and events as well as what’s on tap currently.

Ryan and Wood Distilleries

Ryan and Wood Distilleries, located on Cape Ann in historic Gloucester, Massachusetts, has been distilling world-class spirits since 2006. From whisky to rum and gin to vodka, Ryan and Wood make their spirits the old-fashioned way – in a copper pot in a manner fit for the hard-working locals and travelers alike.

This is a great stop on our tour to collect your favorite spirits. See their full gallery of spirits and cocktails on their site.

Ipswich Ale Brewery

Since 1991, Ipswich Ale Brewery has been crafting delicious ales and lagers on Boston’s North Shore. Located in the heart of Ipswich, the brewery also opened their onsite restaurant the Ipswich Ale Brewer’s Table, which features 15 tap lines and a diverse menu with a mix of tastes ranging from brewpub to New American cuisine.
