Ward Reservation
Ward Reservation is a stunning, sprawling area that consists of 704 acres of hills and trails. You can ski and snowshoe along the trails, pausing along the way to make snowmen, bird watch, and chat with other winter enthusiasts. If you climb Holt Hill you may find the Solstice Stones. This compass-like arrangement of stones is set up to mark the sunset on the longest and shortest days of the year.
Bay Circuit Trail

This 230+ mile long trail is full of natural beauty that you can traverse when the ground is covered in snow. Don’t feel you need to explore the whole 230 miles, though – several sections are accessible by the MBTA commuter rail and other forms of public transportation. This means you can go as far as you like, then catch a ride back to Andover.

Andover Historical Society
Love learning about local history? The Andover Historical Society museum and library connects visitors with the rich history of the town. Discover the unique stories of Andover through enlightening and entertaining exhibits, events, and programs. The library is open and guided museum tours are available from 10 am – 4 pm Tuesdays through Saturdays. There is no admission fee, but donations are gladly accepted in its place to keep these excellent programs running.
Addison Gallery of American Art
Art lovers should add a visit to the Addison Gallery of American Art to their itinerary this winter.
Free and open to the public, you’ll see a world-class selection of American art. The gallery has 25,000 pieces spanning the 18th century to the present, ranging in mediums from paintings to sculptures to photography to textiles. Open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm and Sundays from 1 pm to 5 pm.
