Discover the wild beauty of the Crane Estate with CraneOutdoors, a year-round lineup of exciting outdoor adventures designed to get you outside and exploring one of The Trustees’ most beautiful properties. With over 2,100 acres of beach, dunes, woodlands, and marsh and a network of miles of trails, it’s a landscape that rewards every kind of explorer.

Our guided experiences include kayak trips and hikes for every season and interest. Paddle through the calm waters of the Crane Wildlife Refuge, glide along the Castle Neck River, or explore Fox Creek, the oldest manmade tidewater canal in the United States. On land, set out on a guided hike, wander the dunes beneath a full moon, or take in the colors of a coastal sunset. For a full day of adventure, combine kayaking and hiking on a trip to Choate Island in Essex Bay.

Many programs welcome a general audience, while families with children under 12 can join our CraneExplorer experiences, made just for younger adventurers. Best of all, all kayak gear is provided and expert guides lead the way, so you can simply show up ready for an experience you’ll never forget.
