Back to Cities & Towns

Haverhill, MA

Sitting along the Merrimack River, Haverhill is a scenic New England city.  Known as the “Queen Shoe City of the World” at the turn of the century, it was the location of Rowland Hussey Macy’s first dry goods store and the inspiration for Bob Montana’s “Archie” comic strip.  Haverhill is now home to people who are discovering that they, too, can make history here.
