Winnekenni Castle is a famous castle in Haverhill, built in 1873 by prominent businessman James R. Nichols to use as his summer home. The castle name comes from Native American origins, as “Winnekenni” means “very beautiful,” and is inspired by the Gothic Revival style with stone walls, turrets, and pointed arches. Tour the castle grounds, hike the several trails surrounding the area, or attend a community event such as concerts, festivals, and other programs.
